Our clients wanted to transform their 1930s property into a calm but social home, befitting their evolving family dynamics. They envisioned a ground floor that seamlessly blended style with functionality. With both teenage children and young Grandchildren in mind, their vision centered around a kitchen/dining space that could effortlessly transition between peaceful solitude and social family gatherings.

The conversion began by breaking down the walls that separated the kitchen and dining areas, creating a large open space. Increased natural light and garden views were created through expansive, slender-framed windows and sliding doors. Skylights above, further illuminated the space, creating an atmosphere that feels simultaneously connected to nature and rooted in the comforts of home.

A thoughtfully positioned banquette, is the focal point for the dining area. This bespoke seating solution helps to provide a place to relax and read or sit together and share a meal.

The choice of materials takes a cue from the nearby Strawberry Hill House. Hexagonal terracotta tiles underfoot provide a tactile touch, while a palette of soft, warm hues envelops the space, creating an inviting and calm space.

Our clients have not just renovated; they’ve curated an environment where the interplay of light, space, and design supports how they want to live as a family.
